Anyone who understands the depth and complexity of the spiritual problems we face in the contemporary world knows well that any sustainable attempt at a "political solution" to the problem of Jerusalem and Israel must be based on a fundamental and profoundly renewed understanding of humanity's destiny. What must fundamentally change is our actual understanding of our common spiritual origins; our common path and the common mission of all nations and humanity. The demand for such fundamental change within us reasserts itself time and again, not symbolically, but in the most tangible sense—in Israel and Palestine, and in Jerusalem as their center, and as the global center of all humanity. This place is a bleeding, divisive mirror, reflecting a painful inflexibility, an intense oblivion of our origins, our path, the future goals of our evolution, and our common spiritual mission.
